Samuel Egede completed his carpentry apprenticeship in 2019, when he started his own business in the southernmost village, Narsarmijit. Although the village only has about 60 inhabitants, there was always plenty to do.
“There was always something to do. There were jobs from Nukissiorfiit, Mittarfeqarfiit, and I did work for the municipality and for some other independent companies,” says Samuel Egede.
He established his sole proprietorship, Sanasoq Egede, in 2019 and carried out work from the village until 2023, before he and his family moved to Nanortalik.
The company has since developed beyond its expectations. Today, he has two employees and carries out both large and small projects. These days, he is at a sheep farm near Narsarsuaq performing various tasks, while his employees carry out tasks in the city.
Samuel does not yet have a proper workshop but hopes to find premises at a reasonable price soon. Sanasoq Egede shows that it is possible to start your own business even in the smallest villages.
