A whole new park with skateboard ramps, a basketball court, a climbing area, and space to move around—a place where children and adults can express themselves and be physically active.
It started with a Messenger group – where local young people shared tricks and dreams of getting a small skate park in town.
But the idea grew…
Søren Mortensen drew up a proposal for a park next to the soccer field, more people signed up, and soon the Qaqortoq South Park association was founded.
Together with local contractors and businesses, the association has now created a brand-new activity park that offers much more than originally planned: a skate park with ramps, a basketball court, a climbing area, and an area for play, exercise, and community.
The project has been realized through strong collaboration between enthusiasts, the business community, and local forces.
Søren Mortensen and the board behind Qaqortoq South Park would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the contractors and businesses who have supported and made this dream possible.
Qaqortoq South Park demonstrates what can happen when an idea, a drawing, and a strong community are allowed to grow. The park is supported by 60° North Greenland, KJ Greenland, RAL, HK, Hotel Qaqortoq, Sermeq Helicopters, Inuplan, Masanti, Sydgrønlandsk El, Stark, Permagreen, and Kunguak, among others.
Remember to wear a helmet if you are going skating or riding a kick scooter.
