To celebrate the special collaboration with the Egede family from Eqaluit Ilua, Pisiffik has designed unique bags featuring the family’s image and logo, so that customers can clearly see that the produce is grown locally in South Greenland.
“We are proud to be able to offer fresh Greenlandic potatoes in our stores. The Egede family has made a tremendous effort, and we firmly believe in their vision,” says Jesper Kingo Jørgensen, sales manager at Pisiffik Qaqortoq.
A milestone for Greenlandic vegetables
Already today, 550 kilos have been sold in Qaqortoq, while 1 ton is on its way to Nuuk. And this is only the beginning – from next year, the Egede family will focus fully on the production of both potatoes and turnips, so that even more towns can enjoy fresh, local produce. This means that self-sufficiency in turnips and potatoes will be strengthened.
“It’s a big dream that is beginning to take shape. We look forward to dedicating ourselves entirely to growing potatoes and turnips from next year. It will be an exciting journey,” says Arnaq Egede from Eqaluit Ilua.
The first fresh potatoes are already available for purchase in Qaqortoq and Nuuk.
