A new playground in the schoolyard in Qaqortoq was inaugurated today, giving several hundred children a festive break. The playground, the planting of trees, and the beautiful murals in the school have become a reality thanks to Kuluk Sinclair-Ström’s initiative, strong collaboration with parents, and support from local businesses.
Kuluk initiated the project and, in close collaboration with other parents, secured sponsors. Paarisa, Grønlandsbanken, RAL, Hotel Qaqortoq, and Arctic Café contributed materials for the playground, while 60°North Greenland and KJ Greenland donated all the craftsmanship. Among other things, a climbing wall was erected and panels for soccer games were installed.
In addition, Pisiffik and Brugseni provided meals for the volunteers during the work, and Pisiffik also donated toys for the sandboxes.
As an extra effort, Kuluk also planted trees in the schoolyard with support from HK, Innovation South Greenland, and Stark – and the parents also lent a helping hand. The parents have also painted the walls inside the school to make it more welcoming.
A huge thank you to both the enthusiasts and the companies who have shown how cooperation can bring joy and development to the whole town.
