The aim of focusing on local fishing and hunting – to create pride and give citizens the opportunity to come together around good local produce – was a great success.
Fresh produce from fishermen and hunters was served to citizens for only DKK 25 per plate.
“A lot of people came, so the festival was a great success. In addition to food and music, we also had posters with information about our local ingredients. People showed great interest, and we even hung-up annual charts showing our catch, which is sold on the local boards,” says organizer Erik Kielsen, consultant for fishing, hunting, and food.
During the festival, reindeer, seal, and whale meat were served, as well as salmon – both fresh, smoked, and salted.
The festival was organized by Innovation South Greenland in collaboration with NAPP – the fishermen’s and hunters’ association in Narsaq.
During the event, Inuili contributed with heated flamingo boxes, while the Culture Department provided the location and transportation of the food.
Both days offered good music, delicious food, and a cozy atmosphere – where people gathered around what we are proud of in Narsaq.
